Town Manager

The Town Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of the Town of Stowe. They are appointed by the elected Selectboard and are responsible to them for the day-to-day administration of municipal government. As such, the Town Manager advises the Selectboard on public policy and ensures that their policies are carried out in a professional manner. The Town Manager also appoints the various department heads and coordinate the provision of municipal services through them.

A major part of the municipal government is the preparation and administration of the municipal budget. The Town Manager receives input from the department heads and prepares a comprehensive budget for the Selectboard’s consideration. After they deliberate on it and revise it as they determine to be appropriate, the proposed budget is advanced to the voters for their consideration at Annual Meeting.
