Special Event & Catering Liquor License Applications

All applications and associated fees must be submitted to the Vermont Department of Liquor Control through their online portal:

Any questions can be submitted to the town clerk at townclerk@stowevt.gov, or you can find more information at the Department of Liquor and Lottery - Division of Liquor Control

After the application has been submitted to the Vermont Department of Liquor Control, it is then transmitted to the Town for approval. Liquor permits are approved by the Selectboard / Liquor Commission on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month. Please submit your application with as much lead time as possible to allow for the permit to be approved in a timely manner.

If your application was submitted close to your event, please contact us at townclerk@stowevt.gov to confirm it has been received and so we can advance it for approval.

License Renewal

When renewing your 2024 liquor license, please be aware of the following:

  1. Pay special attention to the area requesting last enforcement seminar attended. Licensees must attend a DLC approved seminar once every two years. If you will be attending a seminar, make that notation on your liquor application and submit the application. Do not delay submittal of your application because of certification.
  2. Any changes in your license(s) such as a new directors or stockholders, etc. must also be indicated on the application. Time is of the essence. The liquor control investigator must be aware of changes and have ample time to act upon them, if necessary.
  3. If there has been a change to your Outside Consumption Permit, you must file a new application. Forms are available in the Town Clerks’ Office.
  4. Note the fees on the upper right corner of the application, payable in 2 checks (Town of Stowe & Vermont Department of Liquor Control). Liquor license fees are non-refundable.
  5. You will receive only one copy of the application. Please sign it and return it with your fees to the Town Clerks’ Office.
